Google Doodle celebrates Little Master Hanif Mohammad 84th birthday

Friday: Hanif Mohammad has been honored by Google Doodle on his 84th Birthday today.

Google is celebrating Pakistan’s test cricketer’s 84th birthday today with doodle. Hanif Mohammad would have turned 84 today if he was alive.

Google always honors prominent personalities with doodle in recognition to their achievements. In the past, Google also paid tribute to Nazia Hassan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Abdul Sattar Edhi and many more.

Hanif Mohammad is called as the original “Little Master” in the world of cricket. However, after him Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar also got the tag of “Little Master”.

Hanif Mohammad played 55 tests for Pakistan, and set numerous records. He had set record in domestic cricket of highest individual score of 499. Which was unbroken for 3 decades. In fact, he is the first Pakistani batsman to score 300 runs in test cricket.

Hanif Mohammad is considered as one of the greatest test cricketer of all time. Moreover, he has even surpassed Sir Don Bradman’s record of highest individual score too. Furthermore, He played longest innings in the history, that is of 16 hours.

The little master’s career span over seventeen years, in which he played 55 matches. Because, Pakistan at that time didn’t play as much of cricket as it was newly established cricketing country at that time. Besides, he also captained Pakistan in 11 test matches out of his 55 matches.

Hanif Mohammad’s Post Cricket Life

In Addition, Hanif Mohammad was born in Junagadh, India. Post his migration to Pakistan, he started taking cricket as his profession seriously. He was mentored by Abdul Aziz, and played for Bahawalpur and Karachi domestically. Until, he made his international cricket debut against India in 1952. Post retirement, he served in Pakistan Cricket as batting consultant in 2002. He died in Karachi on 11th of August 2016.
